International Actuarial Consultant

Europe - As International Actuarial Consultant your part of the ´flying actuarial team´ working across the European business.

A leasing global insurer is looking for skilled actuaries to work as International Actuarial Consultants across their European business.

My client, a leading global insurer, is looking for skilled actuaries to work as International Actuarial Consultants across their European business. You will be required to travel to different countries and work alongside regional teams across Reserving, Pricing and Capital.

Role Definition

Objectives of role

  • To develop, document and implement sophisticated stochastic / deterministic Igloo/Res Q models on-site in the European businesses.
  • To interpret the results of Igloo/Res Q models
  • To develop knowledge of the European markets in which the business operates and to provide actuarial modelling expertise, support and guidance to European market(s) in the Actuarial area of expertise escalating more complex issues when they arise. To support development of Solvency II, capital, reserving and pricing methodologies.
  • Use analytical and modelling techniques to deliver senior management reports and forecasts
  • To provide help and support for other members of the International Actuarial Consultant team
  • To support senior managers and team members, offering coaching and mentoring to less experienced colleagues.
  • To significantly contribute to the local actuarial reporting function
  • May manage mid-sized projects or act as a key resource on large scale projects
  • Implement and deliver to policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Ensure actuarial efficacy of rates/prices for various product lines

Direct/Functional Reports

  • May be asked to manage individuals or a small team.
  • Functional relationships with financial management and actuarial reporting teams in overseas markets

Package

Location

Assignments will take place in a European market in which the insurer operates, and sometimes in London. Length of time in the market will vary depending upon the assignment.

Profile:

  • Actuarial modelling expertise (stochastic modelling preferred).
  • Previous knowledge of actuarial software packages eg Remetrica, Igloo, Cros, Res Q, ResPro is preferred, but not essential.
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and presentational
  • Understanding of project work and project management approaches.
  • Foreign language skills are desirable but not essential as the business language is English
  • Practical experience of finance services organisation
  • Experience of dealing with senior management
  • Experience of documenting financial information and techniques.
  • Sound understanding of the insurance industry and a good level of understanding of the business to enable appropriate solutions to be developed.
  • Ability to manage mid-sized Actuarial projects, or act as a key resource on larger projects.
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Able to work for extended periods in overseas locations
  • Able to work effectively in high pressure delivery focussed environment, with minimal supervision
  • Able to legally work in European markets without notice
